I am currently an Assistant Professor of Zoology at the M.S. University of Baroda in India. I have a Ph.D. in Avian Physiology and Endocrinology (1999), and, prior to my work at the M.S. University of Baroda, I was an Assistant Professor of Zoology at Gujarat University’s University School of Sciences. My research history ponders around the primary screening of herbal extracts as therapeutic agents against metabolic disorders. My current research interest focuses on biological evaluation and mechanistic studies of bioactive compounds in alleviating lipotoxicity and lifestyle disorders viz obesity, atherosclerosis and non-alcoholic steatohepatitis. I have an extensive publication and presentation history, and am currently expanding my work into Metabolic physiology, Endocrinology and Nanobiology.
Academic Profile: Ph.D. in Zoology
Broad research Area: Metabolic Physiology and Endocrinology
Ongoing studies:
Metabolic Physiology Division
  1. Natural therapeutants and their ability to modulate inflammation and lipotoxicity in models of non-alcoholic steatohepatitis (NASH).
  2. Functional foods as therapeutants against CVDs.
Endocrinology division
  1. Improved homing in melatonin primed stem cells for therapy.
  2. Circardian dysregulation and NASH.
Nanobiology Division
  1. Impact of nanosized particles on an avian embryo.
  2. Nanocarriers for drug delivery (collaborative study).
