The Department of Sanskrit, Pali and Prakrit (originally Department of Sanskrit) is one of the well-known Departments of Indological studies. It is as old as the Baroda College. Since 1881, this department is functioning as a full-fledged department with the facilities starting from under-graduate to Ph.D. programme. It has been named as the Department of Sanskrit, Pali & Prakrit in 1984 as it has undertaken the teaching of Prakrit and Pali languages at MA (Principal and Entire) level.
