The present and first Web Team consists of

The Content Management System(CMS) for the website of our university was designed and developed by Mr. D R Jadav, System Analyst of the Computer Centre in the year 2003 with support and encouragement of Mr. Niraj Katwala, an alumnus and Application Team Member of Technology Promotion Trust (TPT). It was inaugurated by the Hon'ble Chancellor at a function organized by Technology Promotion Trust (TPT) at Hotel Taj Residency on 27/01/2004 .
Few months after, an additional Value Added functionality, i.e. access of University Website to mobile users , was design & developed by Mr. Jadav and was inaugurated by the then Hon'ble Vice-Chancellor on 09/04/2004. In those days, it was a rare facility provided by any University Website in our country.
The beauty of the 3-tier web application architecture of the website is that it can be updated from anywhere with adequate authentication. This was specifically designed to overcome the inconvenience of updating the web content, faced by more than 100 user departments, faculties and institutions. The web content of any department / section / faculty / institution can be easily updated at any time from any department / section / faculty / institution without assistance of the Computer Centre. It also has the privilege to be the First Web Application of the M S University of Baroda.
The look and feel (graphics part) of the website has received many comments of being very simple and not very attractive. It has also been criticized of not being sufficiently informative.
In the past years, many departments and faculties have taken interest, given necessary training to their deputed permanent staff with User-id and Password and have been updating their respective web content satisfactorily on regular basis. The web content of some departments/faculties/institutions are not updated so frequently. Consistency, continuity and authenticity are the preferred characteristics of the web content of any prestigious organization like ours.
The 2 system analysts, motivated by the positive inclination of the hon'ble Vice Chancellor to change the look and feel of the website, initiated the difficult task of updating web content. They trained 80 permanent staff members of 44 departments/institutions/sections between 5 th April 2007 to 5 th September 2007 , who positively responded to their call for training. In the meanwhile, the graphical representation of the website also has been thoroughly redesigned. The new Honorary Director, Dr. Dhanesh Patel provided tremendous support and motivation to the duo, which has resulted into present website. |
