GUJARAT STATE ELIGIBILITY TEST FOR LECTURESHIP,
OCTOBER 2010
1)
The Gujarat State
Eligibility Test for Lectureship will be held on Sunday 24th October,
2010. Candidates who qualify in this Test are eligible to apply for the post of
Lecturer in
2) Subjects: The examination will be held in following 20 subjects:
Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences, Life
Sciences, Hindi, Gujarati, Sanskrit,
History, Sociology, Economics, Political Science, English, Education,
Psychology, Library & Information Science, Law, Commerce, Computer Science
& Applications, Physical Education and Home Science.
3) Medium: English and Gujarati for all subjects except Science and
Language Papers. Language Papers are to be answered in the concern language
only.
4) Conditions of
Eligibility:
Master’s or equivalent degree from an Indian University recognized by the
University Grants Commission under the subjects mentioned above with minimum
55%(without grace or rounding off) for General & OBC candidates; 50%
(without grace or rounding off) for SC/ST/PH/VH candidates and Ph.D. degree
holders whose Master’s level examination were completed by
A candidate who is appearing or has appeared in the final year of
Master’s Degree or equivalent examination, in the subjects mentioned above, during
the session 2010-2011, can also apply for the test. Such candidates shall be
admitted to the test provisionally. They shall be considered eligible for
Lectureship, if they are able to produce the proof of having passed the
Master’s Degree examination in the relevant or related subject with the
requisite percentage of marks and submit their Master’s Degree Examination Mark
sheet within two year from the date of the SET Examination in which the
candidate has appeared, failing which certificate will not be issued to the
candidate.
5) Exemption:
NET/SET shall remain the minimum eligibility condition for recruitment
and appointment of Lecturers in Universities/Colleges/Institutions. Provided,
however, that candidates, who are or have been awarded Ph.D Degree in
compliance of the “University Grants Commission (minimum standards and
procedure for award of Ph.D. Degree), Regulation 2009, shall be exempted from
the requirement of the minimum eligibility condition of NET/SET for recruitment
and appointment of Assistant Professor or equivalent positions in
Universities/Colleges/Institutions.” The candidates who have passed the
UGC/CSIR JRF examination prior to 1989 are also exempted from appearing in
NET/SET.
6) Age Limit: There is no age limit.
7) Examination Centres: The test will be held at the following six centres:

8.2 Scheme of the Test
The SET will consist of Paper-I, Paper-II and
Paper-III. The examination for all the three papers will be held on one day, in
two separate sessions.
a) Paper-I shall be of
general nature, intended to assess the teaching/research aptitude of the candidate.
It will primarily be designed to test reasoning ability, comprehension,
divergent thinking and general awareness of the candidate. GSET has decided to
provide choice to the candidates from now onwards. Sixty (60) multiple choice
questions of two marks each will be given, out of which the candidate would be
required to answer any fifty (50). In
the event of the candidate attempting more than fifty questions, the first
fifty questions attempted by the candidate would be evaluated.
b)
Paper-II shall consist of questions based on the
subject selected by the candidate. Each of these papers will consist of a Test
Booklet containing 50 compulsory objective type questions of two marks each.
c)
Paper-I
and Paper-II will be of 75 minutes duration each and each will carry maximum of
100 marks. The candidate will have to mark their response for each item on the
answer sheet provided separately. A combined answer-sheet for Paper-I and
Paper-II will be provided before the starting of Paper-I. Paper-I and Paper-II will
be conducted in the first session and the answer sheet will be collected after
the time given for Paper-II is over.
d)
There will be No Negative Marking in Paper-I &
Paper-II, as
directed by UGC – NET Bureau dated 18th June, 2010. Click Here

Paper-III will consist of only descriptive
questions from the subject selected by the candidate. The candidate will be
required to attempt questions in the space provided in the Test Booklet. The
structure of Paper-III has been revised. It is available on the GSET website Click Here. Paper-III will be held in the second
session of 150 minutes duration and will carry a maximum of 200 marks. The
candidates will be required to attempt questions in the Test Booklet itself.
a)
Paper-III will be evaluated only for those candidates who
are able to secure the minimum qualifying marks in Paper-I and Paper-II, as per
the table given in the following:

g) Candidates are
required to appear in all three papers. A candidate who does not appear in
Paper-I and II will not be permitted to appear in Paper-III. The questions in
all three papers will appear both in Gujarati and English versions (except for
languages and science subjects). The candidates have the option to answer
Paper-III either in Gujarati or in English (except for languages and science
subjects). However, Language papers are to be answered in the concern language
only. In case of any discrepancy in Gujarati and English version of questions
in Paper-I, II and III, the English Version should be taken as final.
h)
i) . Mathematical Sciences, Physical Sciences, Chemical Sciences & Life
Sciences, the syllabus is same as of CSIR-NET. However, the Examination Pattern
will be same as of UGC-NET, described above.
j)
6) Issue of information

information bulletin and application forms will be available from the

The forms will be available from
the above-mentioned branches by paying the fees in cash.
b) BY POST:
The information bulletin and application form may also be obtained through
post from Corporation Bank, Pratik Chambers, Dandia Bazar, Vadodara by sending
a crossed D.D. drawn in favor of Corporation Bank (Gujarat SET)
payable at Vadodara. The request for sending application form and
prospectus by post must be received by 13th August, 2010. The
candidate should send a request to the bank clearly mentioning the address at
which he/she desires the documents to be sent. The candidate should write
his/her Name, Date of Birth, Address, Date of Examination, and Subject Code on
the back of the Demand Draft.
10) Submission of duly
completed application forms:
Duly filled in application form shall be submitted only at the SET
Office by courier/registered post/speed post/ordinary post or in person in
the prescribed envelope supplied with the Information Bulletin. Last date for
receiving completed application forms at SET office is 21st August, 2010 (up to 5:00 p.m.). Application form
received after closing date will not be entertained. For any postal delay SET office
will not be responsible.
