The Directorate of Students’ Welfare (DSW) is a Flagship programme of the University. It was initiated by the then Vice Chancellor & higher authorities to provide financial assistance to the economically weaker students of the University. The primary motive of DSW is to grant financial aid to ‘genuine but economically disadvantaged’ future assets of this nation pursuing their studies at The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda started way back in the academic year 2012-13 which resulted in bringing the haves and the haves not on equal footings.

Students seeking Scholarship support has to have family income less than 3.5 lakh per annum and  55% marks in previous year exam. With all the supported documents like Aadhar card, Bank Account details, Electricity bills etc The Online application can be made on MSU website (https://msubaroda.ac.in/dsw).

The DSW works with its Core Committee & Faculty Coordinators team. The first Scrutiny is done by the Faculty Committee constituted by Dean/3 Professor/Dean of students and Dean of sports. Then the  core committee  verify the credentials and put remarks for Recommendation, Strongly Recommendation and Not Recommended as per the merit of the students. For each academic year the committee meets, discuss agenda and set up plans and acts accordingly  under guidance of the Vice Chancellor sir. 

Every year students who are needy & genuine are identified through regular systematic procedure culminating in personal interview spanning over more than a month. After they are shortlisted, the funds are directly transferred to their bank accounts. 

Since academic year 2012-13 DSW has provided 6,70,04,852 (6 crore seventy lakhs four thousands eight hundred fifty two rupees) of scholarship to 16593 needy and economically disadvantage students which has helped them in continuing their study. For Academic year 2020-21 the process was completely online due to Covid situation . Total 2925 students had done registration out of which 2621 application was completed with  required documents. A total Rs. 90,40,490 Lakh  has been given to 2004 students this academic year. If we look the data we have helped  1662 Grant in Aid students and 342 Higher payment students as they have received the scholarship. Similarly gender wise distribution is seen it is 1181 boys and 823 girls were benefitted with DSW scholarship.

For Academic year 2020-21 100% scholarship was provided to those students who had lost their parents during Covid-19 Pandemic. A total amount of Rs. 6,46,760 has been provided to 17 such students under the special cases.
