Baroda Sanskrit Mahavidhyalaya:

Baroda Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya which has been an internationally reputed institution of the traditional Sanskrit studies, is the constituent body of the M.S.University of Baroda and fully recognized in the entire Gujarat State which offers all the Under-Graduate, Graduate, Post-Graduate as well as Doctoral Degree Courses in numerous ancient Indian Shastra through the medium of Sanskrit at the University level. The B.S.M. in its long, glorious tradition has been highly acclaimed for Producing generations of nationally renowned scholars in various profound Sanskrit disciplines.

Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya of the M.S.University of Baroda, Baroda formerly known as the Rajakiya Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya during the time of the erstwhile Baroda State, has completed eighty-five years (1915-2000). A programme for preparing students through courses in the Vedic and the Shastric disciplines in a traditional approach is a special feature of its academic and professional side. These courses prepare the students leading to Certificates, Diplomas and Degrees. The main objective of the Institute is to train the students with a view to enabling them to accept various professions related to oriental studies and render valuable services to the community.

Recently, the institute has undertaken some educational experiments to modernize Sanskrit education and thereby to satisfy the cultural needs of the community at large, under the programme of popularization of Sanskrit learning. There is a good response from the community to these courses. These courses are being prescribed in view of the recommendations of various Education Committees and Commissions.

Department. of Traditional Sanskrit Studies

In the year 1989 this institution was shifted in the D.N. Hall, on the University campus are from the city area i.e. Mandvi. In the year 1996 the University has instituted a Dept. of Traditional Sanskrit Studies at the Baroda Sanskrit Mahavidyalaya. Now the Dept. has its own Board of Studies. Recently, the Deptt. Has undertaken some educational experiments to modernize Sanskrit education & thereby to fulfil the cultural needs of the community at the large, under the programme of popularization of Indian Shastras, and the Vedic Studies. There is a large number of students studying in the institution coming from the city, the state and the outside. There is good response from the community to these courses.
