Our Vision for the Faculty is to develop it into a world class centre for executive education, which will be known for its contribution, to the development of business leadership and corporate excellence through research, mid-career executive education programmes, consultancy and training in selected strategic areas. The guiding philosophy behind all the academic activities of the Faculty is, therefore, to inculcate professionalism in management thoughts and practices so as to help managers and organizations lead to a better tomorrow.

The M.S.University of Baroda situated in Vadodara the cultural capital of Gujarat, is one of the finest universities of the country. Its management studies wing, M.S.Patel institute, the Faculty of Management Studies (FMS), houses the best brains and the best talent in terms of their students. Students, in the two - year stint at FMS, are exposed to the best in academic expertise and industrial exposure. The presence of large PSUs and various industrial establishments provides students the opportunity of interacting with the corporates, gaining hands-on expereience and gathering of managing efficiently.
 
The institute creates a fertile ground for sharing multiple viewpoints and preparing for leadership in a global work place. Its commitment to diversity is deep. The interactions that occur daily in the FMS community provide a challenging atmosphere that helps students to grow and develop skills they would need in order to excel in carious fields. The faculty, students and alumni are linked through a common quest for life-long learning. Teaching and learning at FMS are collaborated, which reward the students with higher level of knowledge, insight and understanding. Classroom discussions are lively and competitive.
 
The institute, through its Two-year full time MBA Programme, serves actively to promote the cause of management education. In the nineteen years of its functioning, the Institute has carved a niche for itself as one of the premier business schools in the country.

The faculty has started a Three-year MBA Evening Programme (approved by AICTE) since November 1996 to cater to the requirements of executive development and training for the business and the industry in and around Vadodara City.

Ph.D Programme: Since its inception in 1984, Faculty of Management Studies (FMS) has produced fourteen management Ph.Ds and another fifteen are currently pursuing their doctorate studies under various faculty members. This exemplifies the commitment of our faculty to research. With the development of indigenous science and technology, there is a need to simultaneously augment Management Talent and Resources. FMS aims at fulfilling these needs.

The Management Students’ Forum (MSF) established in 1988, is a non-profit organization registered under the Bombay Public Trust Act, 1952. It comprises the alumni and the present students of the Faculty of Management Studies, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda. The autonomous nature of MSF enables the members to bring out their latent potential and develop organizational abilities. As an official student body of FMS Baroda, it conducts various events and activities to develop a sense of belonging among students and become industry ready at the same time.
