About Department

The Department was established in 1949. It has the distinction of receiving funds from various sources such as IPCL (Centre for Studies in National and International Industrial Development, 1977), UGC (Department for Special Assistance during 1985-2007), Planning Commission (Centre for Research in Planning and Development (CPD), 1995), and UGC (ASIHSS programme 2005-2010). Under CPD, the department regularly organizes seminars; workshops etc and undertakes research projects and publication. The department apart from teaching programme from Undergraduate to Ph.d., offers a Self Finance Post Graduate Diploma in Development Studies.
