Faculty of Law, The Maharaja University of Baroda, is a vibrant place of learning where critical and analytical thinking is cultivated and encouraged. It is a place where there is a confluence of ideas and passion for academic excellence. Studying law in the 21st Century has challenges of its own. The curriculum here is revised time to time in order to address the ever growing needs of the society and is always in tune with the Bar Council of India’s requirements. The academic foundation is firmly laid through teaching, research and thought provoking discussions. Debates, Moot Courts, Internships opportunities with NGOs, law firms, leading corporate houses are a regular feature in the life of a law student at Faculty of Law.

We take pride in our experienced and committed faculty who is well equipped to prepare you to face the challenges of tomorrow. Beyond classrooms, we invite erudite scholars, judges, eminent legal practitioners’  and experts from different walks of life  to share their practical experiences which enriches the learning journey of the students and goes a long way in shaping and moulding the young legal minds.

Our Faculty is committed to providing good education to students through Classroom Teaching, Clinical Training, and Extracurricular activities (Moot Court Competition, Atrangi Cultural Festival, Vox Legis Magazine – Publication by the students).

We annually host a National Law Fest—'Lux et Veritas’ wherein students from reputed law institutions across the country look forward to participate. The Faculty aspires to create diverse opportunities for the students to hone their minds and train them with practical application of skills, through dedicated Centres like the Sayajirao Centre for Alternate Dispute Resolution (SCADR), the Centre for Intellectual Property Rights (CIPR), and platforms like the Constitution Club, the Eco Club, etc.The Faculty of Law is recognized by the Bar Council of India (BCI) and the University Grants Commission (UGC). The commitment of the Faculty is evident from the top Rankings given by several ranking agencies.

 

The Faculty is in top 25 law schools (Forbes,2021). It has been ranked 2nd Best Government Law College in Gujarat and 19th Best Law College in India by THE WEEK-2023. The Faculty is ranked 1st Top Law School in Gujarat, 3rd Top Law School in West Zone and 7th Top Eminent Law School in India by GHRDC-CSR in 2023. It has been awarded recognition for Outstanding Contribution in the field of Intellectual Property in Gujarat for the year 2022 by the IPPO Foundation.

Our rich legacy is reflected in our Alumni who are leading the Bar and the Bench alike. Apart from this, they have also left their mark in executive and legislative branch of the government, in academics and corporate sector as well.
