Botanical Garden

The Botanical Garden is in the sumptuous green panoramic land of the M.K. Amin College Campus, The Maharaja Sayajirao University of Baroda, Padra. The Botanical Garden has developed into an excellent centre of biodiversity and ex situ conservation of tropical flora and exotic species. The Garden was inaugurated on 2nd February 2022 by the auspicious hands of Honourable Chancellor Rajmata Shubhangini Raje Gaekwad in presence of Honorable Vice Chancellor Prof. Parimal Vyas; Dean, Faculty of Science Prof. Haribhai Katariya and Principal Dr. Tejovati Prabhu.

Area of the botanical garden is 22385 sqft with Deep black, medium black to loamy sand soils. It is the second Botanical Garden in the University and first ever in Padra region. Botanical garden contains special plant collections such as Pteridophytes, Gymnosperms, Angiosperms like palms, cacti, succulent, trees, shrubs, climbers, and herbs. The garden has been made keeping in mind the natural system of classification. The centre of the garden has been highlighted by Ayush flower, which constitutes of medicinal and aromatic plants useful for different parts of human body.  Brahmi, Shankhpushpi, Jyotishmati, Dronpushpi, Anantmul, Punarnava, Kalmegh, Bhuiamla, Sarpgandha and Tulsi varieties etc. are planted for their medicinal value. These plants are mentioned in Ayurveda and has excellent curing and healing properties for different ailments of human body. The botanical garden has rich biodiversity which also caters many types fauna including butterflies, wasps, bees, reptiles, amphibians etc.
